Van Insurance

Before you decide on van insurance, make sure you know what options are available to you.  There are usually three types of plans, those for private vans, those for a sole trader, and those with company business vans.  Other companies don’t differentiate types of vans and have plans that are cost-related.  The age of your van is also important, newer vans will have a higher insurance cost.

Ask about replacement vans if yours is broken.  Insurance companies understand that many people use their vans for their business.  Because of this, some companies will prove you with a van to use whilst yours is being fixed.  Others will cover the cost of a car or van for hire up to a certain amount.  On the topic of van repair, ask how many labour hours (or up to what amount in pounds) are covered if you need to have your van repaired.

With more and more insurance companies covering vans, there’s more competition and some companies even offer overnight accommodations if your van breaks down away from home.  Companies may also pay for you to come back to the UK if you have trouble while abroad and your van cannot be repaired by the end of your scheduled trip.

As with everything, there are always specific terms and conditions for each company.  Different companies have different limits on how many repair hours or how much they will cover for repairs, so be sure to read the fine print and ask questions before signing on the dotted line.
