Car Insurance
Car insurance is a must for anyone who drives, but there are ways to cut costs without cutting quality. First off, shop around and compare rates. Call major insurance companies and get quotes before you commit to one. Make certain that you understand the different plans that each company has to offer. If you have any doubts, clarify them before you purchase the insurance.
Second, don’t add more coverage than you need. Remember insurance providers want to make your fees as high as possible. But think twice about adding towing and car rental insurance unless they’re an absolute necessity.
Third, pay all at once. If you’re paying monthly for car insurance, you’re also paying interest rates. By paying your insurance off all at once, you can cut costs dramatically.
Four, agree to pay a higher excess payment. Many car insurance companies will drastically lower the cost of your insurance payments if you agree to a larger than normal excess payment. This is the minimum amount that you have to pay for a claim.
Fifth, ask about discounts. Many insurance companies will offer substantial discounts to those who have never been in an accident, don’t drive much, don’t have any traffic tickets, or those with car security systems.
Of course, most companies won’t tell you about these discounts, it’s up to you to ask for them.
Lastly, keep your no-claims bonus. Once you file a claim, your insurance will skyrocket. Ask your insurance company if you can pay a fee in order to keep your no-claims bonus. That way if you do file a claim, your insurance payment won’t dramatically increase.
